Scholarship Applications
The Komo Kulshan Ski Club scholarship program pays program and related costs for a limited number of applicants when circumstances, including financial need, would otherwise preclude participation in an organized snowsport-related youth activity in the Whatcom County area. The KKSC board/committee evaluates applications in late October through the end of the season and determines allocation based on availability of funds and the merits of each compared with the club’s mission and objectives as a public charity. The committee also evaluates the family’s financial needs and the applicant’s letter or statement indicating why they qualify for a KKSC scholarship. We have also included the requirement of two endorsements per applicant by a teacher, administrator, coach, counselor, or resource personnel.
If your application is for Mt. Baker Ski Area products or programs, please research what lesson program other items (rentals/lift tickets, etc.) you would like to apply for on the Mt. Baker Ski Area website and include those details on your scholarship application. You might email instruction@mtbaker.us for any Mt. Baker lesson or product questions. Be aware that most Instruction Programs fill quickly, entry may not be possible, and that applications should be submitted as soon as possible.
Once you have submitted the KKSC scholarship paperwork you must also submit the Mt. Baker Ski Area paperwork for whatever program (Komo Lessons, RDP, Winter Ride, etc.) or item (rentals, life tickets, etc.). These forms should be submitted to the Mt. Baker Ski Area business office as soon as possible. Let the MBSA business staff know you are also applying for or have already applied for a KKSC scholarship in lieu of payment.

In the past the club has funded scholarships for the Mount Baker Race Team, the Komo Kids instructional program, the Winter Ride Program, SkiAble disabled skiing program, equipment rentals and lift tickets in conjunction with instructional programs. Other scholarships are possible.
To have an application evaluated for the current season, fill out the scholarship application, Release of Liability form; provide the additional paperwork indicated on the application and the completed endorsement forms per applicant and forward to the club for consideration:
